Cristiana Cassano, Midwife in Milan

I'm a registered midwife providing private midwifery care in Milan through The Mama Place. I support families during pregnancy, breastfeeding, and the postpartum period with personalized, evidence-based care.

My Background

My career began in New York City, after graduating from Columbia University as a Family Nurse Practitioner (Board Certified) and Registered Nurse with a particular focus on women’s health. Over more than 13 years working as a healthcare professional, I have cared for individuals and families in diverse, underserved communities, gaining valuable clinical expertise and human experience that continues to shape my practice. My journey into midwifery began after I moved to Italy with my Italian husband and became the mother of two wonderful boys. During my first pregnancy, I came to truly appreciate the vital, empowering, and deeply personal care that midwives provide. That experience not only opened my eyes to the profound impact of midwifery, but also inspired me to expand my clinical training and deepen my commitment to supporting women throughout pregnancy and motherhood. I therefore completed my degree in Midwifery at the University of Milan, graduating just in time before the birth of my second son. Since then, I have worked in the Labor & Delivery department of a major hospital here in Milan.

I am also a Certified Lactation Specialist, which allows me to provide personalized, evidence-based support for both common and complex feeding challenges.
